Nansen Tutu Center 10th anniversary symposium: Ocean, weather and climate, science to the service of society

What is it all about?

For the 10th anniversary of the Nansen Tutu Centre for Marine Environment Research, we are organising a symposium. It will run in parallel with the Ocean Observation Physics and Climate meeting (WMO, GOOS and WCRP). Themes are regional oceanography, operational oceanography, role of the ocean on weather and climate, marine ecosystems, biogeochemistry, the CO2 cycle and Southern Ocean. We have several invited presentations on the first day then we move on to more focused sessions. We will give centre stage to African students and early career scientist. The conference is endorsed by CLIVAR.

Registration is open

​There is a registration fee to cover lunches, coffee, ice breaker and the venue and optional banquet.  Everybody must register even student who are not paying the fees. if you are not presenting you can of course register but let the organizer knows

Call for abstracts is open

Mention the likely session, if you are a student or a postdoctoral fellow. Template for abstracts and extended abstracts here and details of sessions available here.

Schedule

3 days of open scientific conference (Tue 10 to 12 Of March 2020. List of invited speakers and their talks is already available and list of sessions. Detailed agenda and list of abstracts will be posted here. Please let us know (Mathieu Rouault) and session conveners of any changes. Please check the program carefully. Load your talk before start of session.

Venue

The Symposium will take place in the new amphitheatre at the Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge located at the waterfront in Cape town South Africa while the OOPC meeting will have a dedicated room. Banquet is at the Waterfront.
