The OKEANO Coordination and Support Action (CSA) has been announced as the winner of the Atlantic Project Award 2025 in the category of International Cooperation.
The award was presented during the 12th Atlantic Stakeholders Platform Conference (ASPC) in Galway, Ireland, at the session entitled “Research and Innovation (R&I) Dimension of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0”. This session, organised in collaboration with the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters and the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA), highlighted the research and innovation priorities of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0 and the European Ocean Pact.
By bringing together EU policymakers (DG RTD, DG MARE), project leaders and private sector innovators, the session showcased notable achievements from flagship EU projects and celebrated examples of best practice. It concluded with the recognition of OKEANO for its outstanding contribution to advancing international cooperation in ocean research and innovation.
About OKEANO
The OKEANO Coordination and Support Action (CSA) is the third and current EU-funded CSA supporting the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance. Representatives from 17 partner organisations from Belgium, Brazil, Cabo Verde, France, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Norway, Portugal, South Africa and Spain and two Associated Partners, Argentina and Brazil, are part of the OKEANO consortium. Funded under the Horizon Europe Programme by the European Union, OKEANO is coordinated by the Marine Institute Ireland, and works closely under the steering of the European Commission.
The main objective of the OKEANO CSA is to provide coordination and support to the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance, ensuring effective governance, cooperation, and communication amongst signatories, and to implement the 2022 All-Atlantic Declaration.
