The All-Atlantic Network of Coastal Resilience Beacon Sites warmly welcomes the new EU Strategy on Resilient and Thriving Coastal Communities.
This strategy could not come at a more important moment for our Network, which is a growing community of locally-managed coastal resilience sites across the Atlantic, committed to community co-design, science, and pan-Atlantic cooperation.
The 70,000 km of EU coastline and the 95 million people who call it home deserve integrated, ambitious policy. We are especially encouraged by the strategy’s emphasis on climate adaptation, ecosystem health, and the co-design of nature-based solutions, as these principles sit at the very heart of our work.
The Network’s Coastal Resilience Hub, developed through the OKEANO project supporting the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance, is ready to contribute to this Strategy by sharing knowledge, connecting local practitioners with EU-level initiatives, and helping translate it into action on the ground.
Together, we can make resilient coastlines a reality🌊
