Launch of the Atlantic Coastal Resilience Knowledge Hub

Launch of the Atlantic Coastal Resilience Knowledge Hub

At the 2024 All-Atlantic Forum, the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance took significant strides in advancing its priority focus on increasing our understanding of the relationship between the ocean and climate and developing outcome-oriented science for mitigating and adapting to the consequences of climate change, particularly for the benefit of increasing resilience of coastal communities.

A highlight of the Forum was the launch of the Atlantic Coastal Resilience Hub, a dynamic online platform designed to provide essential resources for coastal resilience across the Atlantic Ocean. Developed by the OKEANO CSA in support of the Alliance, the Hub serves as a one-stop resource for information on ongoing projects, pilot sites, expert knowledge, best practices, and more. It aims to foster a collaborative community of action, supporting stakeholders from cities, regions, and local communities in their efforts to enhance coastal resilience.

Key Features of the Hub:

  • Dynamic and Updatable: The Hub is continuously updated, providing an engaging, useful, and cost-effective platform for sharing knowledge and innovations.
  • Knowledge Exchange: It supports exchanges of science-based and societal knowledge, connecting experts and communities to promote action on coastal resilience.
  • Visibility of Positive Examples: The Hub showcases inspiring success stories and examples of resilience initiatives.
  • Incorporation of Policy Papers: It integrates the outcomes of past Forum events, ensuring that the Hub reflects the collective progress made through AAORIA’s intergenerational efforts.

The Hub is part of a broader effort by the AAORIA and its Partners to strengthen marine research and innovation cooperation across the Atlantic, building on past agreements like the 2013 Galway Statement and 2017 Belem Statement. Stakeholders are encouraged to utilize the Hub as an essential tool for advancing coastal resilience in the face of climate change.
