Intergenerational Dialogue at the 2024 AAORIA Forum: Policy Briefs

Intergenerational Dialogue at the 2024 AAORIA Forum: Policy Briefs

The “Intergenerational Dialogues Session” was a central component of the 2024 AAORIA Forum, held in Ottawa, Canada on 8-10 October 2024.

This initiative aimed to facilitate intergenerational exchange between Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) and senior ocean professionals and policymakers in the Atlantic community, promote collaboration to leverage collective action in the identified Areas of Action, and empower ECOPs as leaders. Over 30 ECOPs participants from across the Atlantic worked in groups, in dialogue with senior discussion coaches, to brainstorm and co-design ideas for collaborative action towards All-Atlantic priority areas, and delivered pitch presentations to the Forum attendees. These proposals were formalised in six policy briefs, that will be delivered to the attention of the AAORIA High Level Board as a follow-up to the Forum.

ECOPs were also actively involved in other aspects of the Forum programming including as session moderators and rapporteurs.

AAORIA will continue to support intergenerational dialogue and collaboration through the launch of the “Blue Intergenerational Program” in 2025.

The policy briefs are now available online here.
