Celebrating 3 years of the Belem Statement

On the 13th of July 2017 the European Union, South Africa and Brazil signed the Belém Statement on Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Cooperation for the South and Tropical Atlantic.

Since setting sail,  Argentina and Cabo Verde join our common All-Atlantic Ocean journey, significantly supporting the vision on a is healthy, resilient, clean, safe, transparent, predictable, productive, understood and treasured Atlantic Ocean for the well-being, prosperity and security of present and future generations.

Together, the EU and several Atlantic countries have made remarkable progress with our marine research and innovation cooperation. We have significantly progressed towards an All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance, which joins efforts undertaken with the signing of the European Union – United States – Canada Galway Statement on Atlantic Ocean Cooperation, and the European Union – Brazil – South Africa Belém Statement on Atlantic Ocean
