Rabat, April 2025 – From April 14 to 17, Mohammed V University of Rabat hosted the first leg of the Campus Bleu 2025 program: À la Rencontre de l’Océan, a university tour dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing youth around climate, ocean, and societal issues.

Organized by ECOP Morocco (Early Career Ocean Professionals), in partnership with Mohammed V University and the French association Banlieues Climat, this series of activities brought together students, academic staff, civil society actors, and institutional partners around three key highlights:

Held at the Benabdeljalil Amphitheatre, the opening conference brought together around fifty participants. Opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Ihssane El Mansouri (Mohammed V University), Othman Cherkaoui Dekkaki (ECOP Morocco), and Sanaa Saïtouli (Banlieues Climat), emphasizing the need to strengthen youth engagement in the fight against climate change.

The panel featured cross-sector exchanges and youth-led initiatives, including l’École du Climat, the Blue Schools Program, and Ocean Literacy activities. Representatives from Banlieues Climat, ECOP Morocco, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) participated in the discussion.

🔹 April 16 – Film Screening and Debate: CH3EB – Youth Voices for a Sustainable Future

Presented at the Grand Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Education, the 20-minute documentary CH3EB offered a heartfelt look at a Franco-Moroccan initiative held in Marrakech in 2024. It documented the journey of youth committed to environmental issues, intercultural dialogue, and civic participation.

After the screening, a panel of project participants — including Axel, Oumayma, Imane, Assala, Wassim (Banlieues Climat) and Imane Rafik (Mohammed V University) — shared personal reflections and answered audience questions on their motivations, creative choices, and human impact of the project.

🔹 April 17 – Training Workshop: Understanding Climate Issues and Acting Locally

The final day featured a training workshop led by the Banlieues Climat team, attended by 20 young participants eager to explore today’s pressing environmental issues.

Using an interactive approach, the session covered key topics such as climate change, pollution, greenhouse gases, and the environmental impacts of consumer habits. Feedback was highly positive, with participants expressing strong interest in applying and further developing the tools they acquired.

🔄 Outlook

Campus Bleu 2025 sparked strong momentum between academic, civic, and student stakeholders. The enthusiastic turnout in Rabat marks the first milestone of a national tour aiming to strengthen competencies, mutual listening, and collective action for the environment and the ocean.

Upcoming events are scheduled at several Moroccan universities, with the goal of making Campus Bleu a lasting platform for meeting, reflection, and transformation.
