State-of-the-art recommendations for underwater noise visualisation

JONAS is an EU INTERREG Atlantic Area-funded research project addressing threats to biodiversity from underwater noise pollution through better risk management and monitoring.

Marine activities such as shipping, offshore surveys, and construction produce continuous and impulsive noise that can adversely affect marine species. JONAS is addressing the risks of these acoustic pressures on marine biodiversity by improving ocean noise monitoring and risk prediction. Through our research and outputs, JONAS aims to support European nations in meeting the requirements of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) — the EU’s legally-binding framework for protecting Europe’s marine environment.

Their online Underwater Noise Visualisation workshop took place on 30 June 2020. Please click here to see a two-page flyer and find more detailed information in the workshop report and video’s of workshop presentations on the project’s website: https://www.jonasproject.eu/resources/
