Launch of the selection process of the new cohort of All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors

After a successful first year of the All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors programme, the All-Atlantic partners are now looking to select the second cohort of Youth Ambassadors from the countries and regions linked to the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance. The Youth Ambassadors will continue the work done so far by the first cohort of 23 young ocean enthusiasts from the Atlantic region in engaging, driving positive influence and sparking change within their communities and cooperating for the sustainable development and stewardship of the ocean

All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors are dedicated individuals from all backgrounds, aged 18-30 and from All-Atlantic Ocean partner countries, eager to promote the sustainable development and stewardship of the Atlantic Ocean. They are currently either enrolled in training or education programmes, or in the early stages of their profession. Within the context of the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance, Ambassadors will develop campaigns and communication strategies to reach out to local communities, students and civil society, engage decision-makers as well as work with local media to conserve and protect the Atlantic Ocean for future generations. In developing online or local campaigns and participating in virtual and in present events, Ambassadors will be integrated into the collaborative Atlantic pilot actions and supported by All-Atlantic research and innovation projects.

The All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors will be announced at the upcoming All-Atlantic Ocean Research Forum in December 2020 (online event; stay tuned for details), and take part in a Summer School in June 2021 (tbc) where they will engage with political, social, economic and scientific leaders to develop the necessary skills to become actors for change in their own communities and possibly beyond.

The selection process will be carried out individually by the partner institutions of AANChOR-CSA and the AORA-CSA following their own guidelines and within their own capacities. Interested and eligible candidates from the respective countries will be encouraged to apply directly through those channels.
