Workshop on Sea Operations for Ocean Observatories

Workshop on Sea Operations for Ocean Observatories

Event date: 25 - 26 September 2019, Toulon, France

Long-term in situ marine observation is widely acknowledged as a necessity. It is achieved by a variety of marine systems including equipment of diverse sizes, shapes and spatial extent that all need to be implemented at sea. This requires adapted means and procedures that most often weigh heavily in an observatory exploitation budget. EMSO ERIC (the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water-column Observatory European Research Infrastructure Consortium) proposes to bring together the major players in this field for a workshop focusing on means and methods for servicing fixed-point observing systems during their deployment, maintenance and recovery operations. It will be a place to present the latest innovations, discuss methodologies, exchange best practices and think at European scale about an optimization of marine operations.

Targeted audience

Marine observatory operators, designers and end-users, marine services/solutions providers, of both academic and industrial sectors.

Format

The workshop includes 3 oral/poster sessions plus a hands-on demonstration in a single-track format over two days. The oral sessions will mix talks from solicited speakers and talks selected after abstract submission.
