Taking place during Ireland’s EU Council Presidency, the Atlantic Summit Galway 2026 will convene leaders and stakeholders from across ocean research, policy, industry and society to set priorities for the Atlantic’s place in Europe’s ocean agenda.
The Summit is organised by the Marine Institute — coordinator of OKEANO, the Coordination and Support Action supporting the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) — together with the University of Galway and Atlantic Technological University, with support from the Irish Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
The programme will include plenary sessions, strategic discussions and networking opportunities across the Atlantic community, as well as some of the 2026 All-Atlantic Intergenerational Hackathon participants.
Following the Hackathon held in Salvador during the 2026 AAORIA Forum, each challenge team will present their group’s solution the Atlantic Summit. Selected ECOPs will have the chance to bring their Hackathon work into a high-level policy and science diplomacy forum and engage with Atlantic partners.
