The All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) is launching a new webinar series titled “All-Atlantic Connect”, developed under the OKEANO Coordination and Support Action (CSA). This initiative aims to spotlight the scientific cooperation and innovation happening across the Atlantic basin under the umbrella of the All-Atlantic Alliance, connecting local and global ocean communities.
Through a series of interactive sessions, All-Atlantic Connect will foster dialogue between key international initiatives and the All-Atlantic community, highlighting how global ocean agendas align with and strengthen collaborative action throughout the Atlantic.
The first edition of the series is developed in partnership with Oceans20 Brasil and Ocean20 South Africa, with the first webinar taking place on 21 October 2025 at 13:00 UTC. You can register to attend here. This opening session will explore the synergies between AAORIA’s vision for a resilient and cooperative Atlantic Ocean and the priority areas identified by the G20 engagement group Ocean20 in the Oceans20 Communiqué, which calls for global leadership on ocean stewardship within the G20 framework.
The session will feature:
- Reflections from Oceans20 Brazil on the outcomes and recommendations from their 2024 G20 Presidency, with Alexander Turra Chair of Oceans 20 under G20 Brazil Presidency, UNESCO Chair for Ocean Sustainability.
- Insights from Oceans20 South Africa on priorities under South Africa’s current leadership, with Tammy Morris, Ocean20 South Africa Lead Coordinator, SAEON.
For each webinar episode, the discussion will be moderated by an AAORIA expert, linking Oceans20 perspectives with the goals of the All-Atlantic Declaration and AAORIA’s framework for cooperation. For this inaugural session, moderation will be led by Laura McDonagh from the OKEANO coordination team, who will guide the conversation and connect insights from both sides of the Atlantic.
