The objective of the eighth Ocean Best Practices System Workshop (OBPS WSVIII) is to facilitate the cross-cutting primary role of best practices in operational oceanography by promoting dialogues across science and technology. In the era of Digital Twins for the Ocean, the need of best practices is fundamental for a more interoperable and reliable use of ocean data, for the evolution of the worldwide observing network from the deep ocean to the coast and for dealing with complex forecasting systems. The ultimate goal for satisfying this need is to provide standards and tools for developing new solutions for marine conservation, for predictions and monitoring, for a sustainable ocean environment, and a sustainable Blue Economy.
The All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) will be represented by a workshop on Best Practices for Successful Cooperation. This session will focus on the best practices that have emerged from AAORIA over the past 10 years, highlighting how successful partnerships are driving scientific discovery, technological advancements, and sustainable ocean management.
The Alliance will also present “All-Atlantic Blue Schools Network: guiding the ocean leaders of the future”. This workshop explores how All-Atlantic Blue Schools Network’s support is empowering schools to foster ocean literacy and sustainability across the Atlantic region. Participants will discover how this network connects students, educators, and communities, promoting a deep understanding and stewardship of the Atlantic Ocean. Through interactive discussions, we will highlight innovative educational approaches, best practices and share success stories, and explore opportunities for further engagement.
