SIMNORAT intends to address practical aspects of MSP (maritime spatial planning) implementation, with a specific focus on trans-boundary cooperation and the identification and sharing of best practice, in order to enhance understanding and address the issues and challenges of MSP implementation. SIMNORAT brings together a number of partners – research organisations, marine planning authorities and marine management bodies – who have extensive experience with regard to maritime planning, policy and management. SIMNORAT will focus on two key objectives: (1) Support the implementation of the Directive on Maritime Spatial Planning in French, Spanish and Portuguese marine waters; (2) Launch and carry out concrete, cross-border MSP cooperation between Member States in the Northern Atlantic, involving three Member States.
