The oceanographic vessel Ramón Margalef is specially designed for oceanographic and fisheries research, including the integrated study of ecosystems, a concept introduced by the Catalan researcher Ramón Margalef, pioneer of modern ecology in Spain. The oceanographic vessel Ramón Margalef,for its dimensions and capabilities, is classified as a regional vessel. It has 10 days of autonomy and space for 11 researchers and technicians, in addition to its 12 crew members.
The ship operates nationally and adjacent seas and has the latest technology to study marine geology, physical and chemical oceanography, marine biology, fishing and environmental control.
