The Oceanographic Ship Atlântico Sul, from the Federal University of Rio Grande, was built in Brazil (at the Embrasa shipyard, SC, 1973), and has been operating in the field of oceanographic and fisheries research (the only one in Brazil with these two characteristics) since the end of 1970s.
