The regional vessel R/V Alvarino is a multipurpose research vessel that works from fisheries research to marine geology/hydrographic surveys and oceanographic ones. The vessel is made available to both internal users and to external academic researchers by the annual shiptime funding program which is a peer reviewed process based on scientific excellence. This funding results in many international researchers forming part of scientific teams. It is offered for scientific cruises up to a length of 15 days (vessel maximum autonomy are 10 days), mainly in Iberian Coasts, Western Mediterranean, and Canary Islands.
