The workshop “Marine Plasticology” is certified as a short-term training action by the Training Centre of The East Loures. “Plasticologia Marinha” originates from Greek plastikos (‘plastic’) and logos (‘study’), that is, it is the science that studies plastics: the path they travel in the ocean and their interaction and impact on marine organisms and ecosystems. The action takes place through 60-minute sessions, where students are guided by two marine educators through topics such as marine conservation, biodiversity, sustainability, the blue economy, marine litter and blue biotechnology. This new program aims to “motivate, inspire and raise awareness of as many students as possible for the different threats to the oceans, but also for the opportunities they offer us.
