Fishing for Success have the aim to live, share, and celebrate the traditional fishing knowledge and culture that sustained generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. The purpose is to re-create the built structures of a functioning traditional inshore fishing premise; educate youth & families about Newfoundland and Labrador’s traditional inshore fishing knowledge, skills, and culture; empower young people to make decisions about their future by providing them with information about appropriate conservation behaviours and introducing them to careers associated with freshwater and marine environments; strengthen community bonds by providing the means through which older members in the community can share their knowledge, wisdom, and skill with the younger members; promote the physical and mental health of youth through the education of and opportunity to participate in traditional purposeful outdoor activities; and provide locals and visitors to Petty Harbour.
