DEMERSTEM is a project part of the PESCAO programme. It mainly aims to support the production of scientific advice on the state of demersal species stocks to serve fisheries management and thus enable the sustainable exploitation of fisheries in waters under national jurisdiction (EEZ) of the partner countries. The PESCAO proramme aims to prevent and eliminate IUU fishing, thus contributing to better fisheries governance and food security in Western Africa.
