The Coastal Management and Integrated Actions Group (GAIGERCO) is a Research Group registered and certified by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). This group was created in December 2017 by students of the Graduate Program in Coastal Management (PPGC) of the Federal University of Rio Grande – FURG and Prof. Dr. João Luiz Nicolodi. In order to meet the demands related to the Integrated Coastal Management Improvement Grant, the Group operates mainly in the theoretical evaluation of instruments for planning, control, technical support and inspection, identifying the effectiveness of processes, or the need for adaptation/creation of new management mechanisms. The Group fosters social awareness through scientific, didactic and communication publications on Coastal Management and through the establishment of partnerships between national and international governmental and research institutions. Such actions allow the replication the good practices and contribute to the decision making at the municipal, state and federal levels.
