Join the Ocean Decade Virtual Series

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, along with partner organizations, will convene a series of high-level and scientific virtual dialogues to mobilize the global ocean community, foster transformative partnerships and innovative solution-oriented actions under the Ocean Decade.

The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development will start in January 2021. It will provide a common framework to develop the scientific knowledge and the partnerships needed to accelerate and harness advances in ocean science to achieve the 2030 Agenda. Find out how the Decade relates to the construction of the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Community and the implementation of the Belém Statement here.

The Decade will generate the data, information and knowledge needed for more robust science-informed policies and stronger science-policy interfaces at global, regional, national and even local levels, leading to improved integrated ocean management and development of a sustainable ocean economy.

About the Ocean Decade Virtual Series

Sessions will be organized around the Decade Challenges, which represent common priorities that can be translated into relevant Decade Actions at all scales by different stakeholder, as well as some key priorities and cross-cutting issues, such as Ocean Science and Human Health, Ocean economy for Small Island Developing States, Gender equality, Indigenous and local knowledge, Ocean data, Ocean observing system or Ocean and climate nexus. Scientists, ocean managers and end-users are invited to join the Ocean Decade Virtual Dialogues.
