The Brazilian Sea Observatory (BSO) is a monitoring service for the Brazilian coast, which integrates in situ measurements, satellite observations, results of forecasting operational models and vessel positions. All information available at the Brazilian Maritime Observatory is being updated daily, considering the latest expected results. Users have free access to view the different types of information in map or graph format. Registered users can simulate marine pollution incidents on demand (for example, oil spill) based on high resolution models. BSO contributes to the management of the coastal and marine environment, maritime safety management, management of marine resources, oceanic and meteorological forecasting, tourism, fishing and aquaculture activities and scientific research. The main users of the Brazilian Observatory of the Sea are the oil and gas industry, aquaculture, the renewable energy industry, public and research agencies and port administrations.
