1 billion EUR European Green Deal Call to be announced soon

The European Commission plans to publish in the coming days a 1 billion EUR “Green Deal Call for Research Proposals”. The Green Deal call will mobilise research and innovation to foster a just and sustainable societal transition aiming at “leaving nobody behind”. Projects are expected to deliver tangible and visible results relatively quickly and show how research and innovation can provide concrete solutions for the Green Deal main priorities.

An Info Day will be organised during the virtual European Research and Innovation Days (registration are open!) on 23 September.

A brokerage event, to which everyone may apply to present ideas and/or relevant competencies to setup proposals will be organised on September 24.

We would like to highlight a specific topic: “A transparent and accessible ocean: Towards a Digital Twin of the Ocean“. The Digital Twin of the Ocean concept is to make a step further by integrating all European assets related to seas and oceans (data, models, physical ocean observatories at sea) with digital technologies (cloud, super HPC capacities, AI and data analytics) into a digital component that represents a consistent high-resolution, multi-dimensional and (nearly) real-time description of the ocean. It will be a simulator to test scenarios that deal with different evolutions of the ocean environment. It will empower citizens, governments and industries to collectively share the responsibility to monitor, preserve and enhance marine and coastal habitats, while supporting also a sustainable blue economy. (draft version, submitted last May to public consultation, here)

The brokerage event will give you the possibility to pitch (pre-recorded) proposal ideas and to have face-to-face meetings in virtual chat rooms.

The registration to the different events and the applications for pitching and face to face meetings will be soon open through the R&I Days website.
