Description

The Rio Acima project “Upstream: Natural Heritage and Water” promotes the knowledge, rehabilitation and protection of inland freshwater ecosystems and their biodiversity, while educating and encouraging a more active, open, transversal and participated society. The project enables the training of Environmental Education technicians and teachers, promotes ocean literacy and citizen awareness about the importance of rivers and streams as service providers, through the valorization of the territory and natural resources. The actions focus on “Valuing the Territory”, “Making the economy circular” and “Decarbonising society”. Actions included training courses, fauna and flora identification trails, development of educational resources, talks with scientists and river cleanups.
