Register now for the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Forum, taking place virtually from South Africa from 3 – 4 December 2020. This event is hosted by Department of Science and Innovation, South Africa in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission. The All-Atlantic Ocean Research Forum will provide an opportunity to a wide-ranging audience, ranging from political leaders, research leaders, academics, civil society, entrepreneurs and the youth to engage in inspirational topics around the Atlantic Ocean.
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the economies of the Atlantic countries and as such, the overarching theme of this Forum will be on how the Alliance through its joint actions can contribute to the socio-economic recovery caused by this pandemic. The Forum will provide a platform to showcase progress of initiatives that have been initiated in efforts to support the implementation of the Belém and Galway Statements. The Forum will also explore within this theme, key discussions linked to Society Interface for a healthier Atlantic; Skills for the changing Atlantic; Atlantic Ocean collaborative and data infrastructure; initiatives under the All-Atlantic Cooperation; launch of a new intake of All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors and a reflection of the contribution towards the All-Atlantic Ocean towards the UN Decade of Ocean Science; and, the Sustainable Development Goals. These initiatives are well aligned with the priorities set by the All-Atlantic partners, such as South Africa’s Operations Phakisa Oceans Economy, the European Union Blue Growth Strategy; the Brazilian Blue Economy; Canada’s Ocean strategy as well as that of the United States of America.
